The writer realized it
was difficult to fix the regret on back life. However, people could listen to
elderly’s worries and appreciate elderly’s other life event. Moreover, people
could support and encourage to improve their regret life event. Even though the
regret was exist, the elderly could minimize the regret as they can and
confronting death.

Literature that help explain and support the psychological issues

When elderly
experienced low level of satisfaction with their life and low sense of
coherence, they might developed in despair and depression. It was because there
were a positive relationship between sense coherence and well-being (Dezutter, Wiesmann, Apers & Luyckx, 2013). If
elderly wanted to develop integrity in end stage of life and other wanted to
assist the elderly, they should focus on three aspect.

The first aspect was
comprehensibility, if their life event was make logical sense and well
organized (Collingwood, 2016). The second aspect
was manageability, if they could control and cope with the life event. The
third aspect was meaningfulness, if they felt that life was worthy.

Reflection on writer’s actions

There were the
reflection on writer’s actions by using Gibbs’ reflective cycle (Mind Tools, n.d.). The event last about 2 months. The
writer learnt and apply assessment tools, listening skills and communication
skills. Moreover, the writer approach the target elderly. The goal of the actions was to lower the scores of assessment test of
elderly.

In the preparation,
the writer felt nervous and stressful. It was because the knowledge and skills
were unfamiliar to the writer. The writer doubt that if she could apply
knowledge effectively. During the approach, the writer felt worthy because she
gain many meaningful information from the elderly. At the end, the writer felt satisficed
because she achieved the goal of the plan.

There were the good
points of the actions. The writer was well prepared and led the elderly to an
appropriate direction. Moreover, the writer explored the useful information
from the conversation and analyzed the reasons why the elderly depressed. After
that, the writer give a suitable suggestion to the elderly to improve the
stressor.

There were the bad
points of the actions. The preparation time and approach time is not enough.
Since the writer only could interact with the elderly in spare time, there were
some limitation. Doe example, the writer could not use the long GDS to measure
the degree of depression. However, the long GDS could measure the degree of
depression more accurately.

Elderly often experienced
by death of spouse, loss of social support network and reflect back on life (WebMD, n.d.). They might developed in depression
easily. However, depression usually underestimated by physician. If elderly could
not receive treatment delayed might deal with unnecessarily stress. Therefore,
it was important to equip self with depression knowledge.

If there were enough
time, the writer might use long GDS to assess the elderly. Also, the writer
could give more suggestion to the elderly. As a result, there could have
greater improvement in depression.

New perspective or paradigms shift

depression could avoid people from distraction by other problem and force the
most significant thing to the front burner (Taibbi,
2013).

2013).

feeling of frustration, depression and sadness (Kaur,
n.d.). Therefore, depressed people become a greater judge of character.
