Personal Leadership Map
I was born and raised in Doha City, which is the capital of Qatar. It is also where I took and completed my undergraduate education from. While growing up, I considered that my first goal in life was to complete my undergraduate studies with respectable grades so that I could be able to get into a good University. My second goal was to finish a collegiate degree in a respectable University. I planned that my third goal is to further my academic achievements through pursuing graduate degree overseas. Followed by that, my fourth goal is to gain practical knowledge on matters of how to deal with people through internship programs and job experiences. Finally, my fifth goal would be for me to go back to my home country with all the knowledge and practical experience which I will obtain from my undertakings overseas and start my own business.
During my growing up years, I saw firsthand the hardships of life. My mind was broadened by the reality that poverty is very real and that it is only through education that one can fight poverty. I learned how to value education at a very early age. It was during this time that I realized how to set goals so that I know what I would want to become of my life and in order for me to feel that I have fully succeeded in becoming who I was meant to be in the future, I had mapped out five major goals in my life which I will seriously and whole heartedly abide to.
During the course of my elementary and high school studies, I made the most out of studying and kept good grades that would ensure my admission to a very respectable University which I have attained. Since this was my first goal in life, fulfilling this goal kept me focused on my studies and fortunately enough, I was able to reap the benefits of my pursuit of education.
I was privileged enough to be admitted to King Saud reputable University, which is a very respected and reputable University, where I took up a collegiate course in Architecture. I had to take a part-time employment in a construction company where I was able to interact with many different kinds of people and their dissimilar attitudes and personalities. I was able to finish my degree three years back, this was in 2006. It was a dream for me to see that I have fulfilled my second goal in life. My work experience during my part-time employment had made me want to work almost immediately after I gained my collegiate diploma. I worked for two years in a chemical company. This experienced has continued to enrich my desire to effectively communicate with different people through language and since my plan was to continue further studies overseas, I went to England where I took English courses just so that I could learn how to speak properly in the English language.
The road to fulfilling my third goal, which is to further my academic achievements through pursuing graduate degree overseas, was not easy. I had to take two unsuccessful TOEFL exams before I finally made it and proved my eligibility for graduate studies in the United States of America which I consider is the country that has the best Universities in the world. Because of my love for the factory sectors, I am presently applying in the California State University in Long Beach where I intend to take up a master’s course in engineering management. I also have a plan to finish an MBA course here in the United States.
My fourth goal is to gain practical knowledge on matters of how to deal with people through internship programs and job experiences. I have a plan to apply for work in a manufacturing company while I am here in the United States. My plan is to work for about 2 to 3 years just so that I can absorb and understand the nature of the manufacturing industry that is done differently in this country. One of my plans is to work in The Qatari Industrial Development Fund. I believe this is one of the best places which I can get a good work experience from. The company grants scholarship programs where their employees have the opportunity to be sent abroad from New York, to London, to Tokyo, and to Berlin to attend Training Courses in all the areas of manufacturing. These areas include management, finance, and designing. The work experience that I will gain from this company would aid me in my application to find work in another big industrial company that grants an even higher financial reward to their employees. It is also my dream to become one of the members or the top management in the industrial sector because of the high demand of improvement in my country.
Finally, my fifth goal would be for me to go back to my home country with all the knowledge and practical experience which I will obtain from my undertakings overseas and start my own business. I plan to open my own design office which is will be specializing in doing manufacturing designs. I plan to incorporate the different things that I have learned through my dealings with the people overseas in order to run my own company fluidly.
It is one thing to have a dream and another to see it become a reality all it takes is a lot of. patience and hard work. Goals should be carried out until they can be fulfilled. Taking each day one step at a time and absorbing what you can learn from each day can not only help you see your goals to the end, but also help you become the best that you can be.
